Wet air outlasts the hottest week

By late October the peak heat along the Gulf has usually eased, and the air in Houston often has not. A kitchen that felt merely hot in August can feel clammy now. Condensation shows up on a refrigerator door, on a cold-water pipe, and sometimes on the outside of a washer that sits in a room without much airflow. Galena Park, east of the Houston listings, gets that same thick air. It is still a different city, with its own card.

What the damp is allowed to tell you

Use the number on the card whose street you mean. Say Houston or Galena Park first so the cities stay apart. Describe the towel test, or the heavy clothes, in one or two sentences. Ask whether that business will look at the machine you named. An answer from Capitol Street does not cover Bryan Street, and neither Houston answer covers Galena Manor.

What you should leave unsaid

Skip any story about a storm you did not have. Skip a price you hope to hear. Skip a clock time you expect someone to arrive. Those details are not published, and inventing them does not make them true. If a breaker opens as soon as the appliance starts, leave that breaker off and describe the trip, rather than resetting it again and again.

Galena Park's industrial edge and a downtown Houston suite can share humid air and still be the wrong pair of errands. Name the machine, the room, and the city. Then wait. A towel test from Capitol Street is not a work order for Galena Manor.
